Well if any of you don't know I'm a Palestinian Muslim, born and raised in NYC and yesterday I had an interesting experience. I was out with some friends and we were hanging out at a famous lounge. We were sitting there chatting when one of my friends started talking to the manager of the place. My buddy asks the manageer where is he from and he say's Egypt. My friend then turns to me and says "oh my friend here, he's Palestinian". So as we Arabs do we exchange our respectful greetings and start to talking about what, Palestine. So he starts to talk about he used to go Philistine(let's give the land it's historical context) all the time but won't go there anymore. That when he went to Bethlahem he had the worst experience visiting the Church of Nativity.
Obviously I think to myself he must be Coptic. Now i have heard stories of how Coptics don't really like Muslims and said maybe he might be different. Boy was i wrong....
He starts going on this rant about "You Palestinians screwed up, if you were just sit tight and do what the Israelies want you within 20 years you would outnumber the Israelies..." This is not a new concept and yes it might be true but the REALITY is Israel doesn't want a one state solution. They know that it threatens their existence. Yeah we as Palestinians wouldn't mind that but we aren't the ones making the rules.
Then he starts expressing his opinion about Hamas, how we sided with these radicals and it destroyed us. From there we segway to how the Saudis are spreading Wahaibism in Egypt but giving any Egyptian 100 US dollars a month for growing a beard. HUH? I've never heard of this act of gratitude by the Saudis. Can someone point me to an article/news that would reveal it. Then he starts saying that when he was young living in Egypt there was a Muslim family that lived below them. That the Muslim women couldnt bare children so she fed the him and his 4 siblings everynight and treated them like her own. He then goes to say when he went back to visit her recently she refused to even shake his hand.
I thought for a minute am I really hearing this crap from another ARAB????????
